Dave Grohl is a divorcee. The question is, will he end up getting divorced a second time?
In a shocking Instagram post, the Foo Fighters rocker admitted to the world that he’d cheated on his wife of over 20 years – and to make matters worse, the affair had led to a mistress.
While this story may be familiar to those who have followed Dave’s career since his Nirvana days, for the rest of us, it’s worth explaining that Dave Grohl knows all too well what happens when you cheat on your spouse: divorce.
To what extent is his marriage a recurring one? Let’s take a closer look.
Dave Grohl’s divorce: His first marriage ended in messy fashion
Imagine this: 1994. That’s the year Dave Grohl married his first wife, Jennifer Youngblood.
Her last name says it all: Dave was just 25 years old at the time, he was still in Nirvana, and his friend Kurt Cobain had just died.
Years later, Dave admitted in an interview that he was too young to get married, which is probably why they broke up in 1997.
But that’s not the end of the story.
There are conflicting reports about why the pair broke up, but one leading theory is that He committed fraud Dave maintained that the split was amicable.
“I was 25 and my wife was even younger. We weren’t ready to get married,” he once said. NME“I miss her so much. She’s the most interesting weirdo I’ve ever met in my life. She’s so adorable. I wish I’d never married her. But life is about learning from experiences.”
The band broke up after the first divorce
After all, it looks like Dave Grohl’s divorce has had bigger implications than just paperwork and asset division.
This led to a split in the Foo Fighters, with one member leaving the group permanently.
Guitarist Pat Smear was reportedly close friends with Dave’s first wife, Jenner Youngblood, and the breakup was apparently a breaking point for Pat, who was tired of touring and had conflicting views with Dave about how the group should be run.
“I was sick of it. I was sick of it all,” Smear recalls in the documentary. Foo Fighters: Back and Fourth.
He added: “I [didn’t] I want to go on another billion-dollar show tour, but I don’t care. [didn’t] I don’t want to do this anymore.”
And as well as dealing with a broken marriage, Dave also had to repair a broken band. He managed to repair his relationship with Pat, who toured with the band in 2006.
But some lessons are harder to learn than others.
Dave Gall to divorce second wife for the second time
Six years later, on August 2, 2003, Dave married his second wife, Jordyn Blum, at their Los Angeles home.
For more than two decades, the couple seemed to be happily married, with three children (all girls) and Dave appearing to be a doting father, even when he was on tour.
“I used to be on tour nine months of the year. Now I hate being away from my kids for more than 12 days,” he says. He told Time magazine 2009.
Then, on September 10, 2024, he announced that he had become a father to a fourth baby girl — except to a woman who isn’t his wife! Yes, Dave admitted to the affair in a short but shocking statement on Instagram.
“I recently became a father to a daughter born outside of marriage,” he says. wrote on Instagram Tuesday.
“I love my wife and children and I am doing everything I can to regain their trust and earn their forgiveness.”
Now, the question is, will his second marriage also end in divorce like the first one? The truth is, for now, we don’t know. What I can say is that up until this moment, there were no rumors that Dave was going to divorce his wife or vice versa. Everything seemed fine.
In fact, the pair were last spotted together at Wimbledon in 2024 and looked like the picture perfect couple.
Ah, secrets ruin any love story. I need to know more.
