That Deadpool and Wolverine, There was a lot to be excited about: Ryan Reynolds joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Hugh Jackman returning and a potentially huge cameo in the works. The film did not disappoint in terms of cameos, and Giant Freakin Robot’s exclusive scoop that Chris Evans would be returning as Johnny Storm/Human Torch was spot on.
In 2022, it was reported that Chris Evans was in talks to reprise the role, which he played in the original 2005 version of the Fantastic Four.
While many know him best as Steve Rogers/Captain America for nearly the entirety of the original Avengers timeline, Deadpool and Wolverine It really suited the atmosphere of the movie and it was perfect, no one was taking themselves too seriously and it was fitting to see Chris Evans playing the superhero role he was meant to play.
in Deadpool and Wolverine, The title characters meet Chris Evans as the Human Torch in The Void, initially thinking he’s Captain America, and this encounter also has a funny ending where Evans regains his character’s powers with a little announcement: “Fire!”
That being said, it’s not all fun and games for Chris Evans in Deadpool & Wolverine, as he encounters the film’s villain, Cassandra Nova, who isn’t too keen on him being there. No, not at all.
Deadpool and Wolverine The film is filled with plenty of references to Marvel fandom and the universe at large, with cameos from various iterations over the years and some new faces as well. There are plenty of characters in this film, some of whom you might not expect.
This was expected, given that this will be Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman’s first appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since their move from 20th Century Fox.
of Deadpool and Wolverine The tongue-in-cheek tone made it the perfect place for this to happen, especially against the backdrop of the multiverse “problems” MCSU has been building up to over the years.
That momentum isn’t slowing down anytime soon, with Robert Downey Jr. also set to return later in this phase. He’ll be taking on one of the timeline’s big players, Doctor Doom, now that Jonathan Majors has stepped down as Kang the Conqueror.
Chris Evans’ return as Johnny Storm/Human Torch means Captain America may also return at some point, so at least we know he’s still open to making appearances around here.
Whether that will come to fruition remains to be seen, but given the way things are developing Avengers: Secret Wars There’s a good chance we’ll see Chris Evans back at the end of this phase.
