Cheryl Hines’ Divorce and Marriage History With RFK Jr., Explained

Cheryl Hines went through a difficult divorce before marrying into one of America’s most famous families – could she go down that same path again?

Cheryl, of course, is a Hollywood veteran; Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Since 2014, she has been the wife of Robert F. Kennedy Jr., a controversial politician who is currently running for president as an independent candidate.

Their marital status may change soon as well, as RFK Jr. himself has suggested that separation might be best for Sheryl’s public image.

And now that he’s been found allegedly hooking up with another woman, the tides of their relationship could be about to change.

But we’re getting ahead of ourselves. Let’s start with the fact that even if Cheryl is heading for divorce, she knows how to get through it.

Cheryl Hines divorce: Her first marriage to Paul Young ended quickly

In 2002, Cheryl married talent agent Paul Young, and although Cheryl often refers to Larry David as her “first husband” due to their on-tv marriage, Paul is the first man she was legally married to.

They were happy together and had a daughter, Katherine Rose Young, in 2004. All seemed well.

Then in 2010, after eight years of marriage, Cheryl and Paul decided to amicably separate – no reasons were given, but the couple assured fans that they would remain friends.

“They remain very close friends and will continue to raise their daughter together,” a rep for the former couple said. He said in a statement.

And they kept their promise: Paul ended up serving as a producer on Hines’ new show, “This Close.”

As if that wasn’t enough, when Cheryl became a star on Hollywood Boulevard in 2014, Paul was all sitting front row along with Larry and RFK JR.

Cheryl and Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s Relationship: How It Begins

Separation from RFK Jr. was considered to “protect” her

For example, in 2022, when Kennedy made comments comparing the CDC’s vaccination mandates to Nazi Germany’s policies, Sherrill spoke out against the remarks.

“My husband’s opinions do not coincide with my own. We love each other, but we differ on many current issues…” she tweeted.

“The atrocities endured by millions of people during the Holocaust should never be compared to anyone or anything. His opinions do not reflect my own.”

The backlash against Kennedy’s comments was so intense that he suggested a fake divorce to protect Cheryl’s career.

“When I saw how it was affecting her life, I told her, ‘You should announce that we’re breaking up,’ so you can get some distance from me,” RFK Jr. said. The New York Times (via Variety).

“We really hadn’t done anything but I was desperate to protect her when my words and decisions were affecting her.”

The couple decided that such extreme action was not necessary and continued their happy married life.
