Charles Barkley on LeBron James-Stephen A. Smith beef: LeBron's too big to be that type of bully, it turned me off

9 Min Read
They both had a terrible week. They both had a terrible week. Charles Berkley: LeBron James – He’s too big and that type of bully. He bullies Stephen A. Smith and Brian Windholst. Brian Windhorst is a sweet guy, man. He’s just trying to do his thing. I’ve always liked LeBron, but he’s a bully – it turned me off, Dan. But I say this: Stephen A., the way he responded, was very lame and weak. And Stephen A is a good guy, man. For him to react that way… LeBron – like I said – I blame him for starting bullying. LeBron – he is a control freak because you know. He knows everything he does. He knew what he was doing when he went up to Stephen A. But how Stephen A responded – go to Gilbert’s podcast and talk about the hard stuff – come on, man. You’re better than that.

“Are you following everyone?” Patrick asked that it appears Johnson is about to make sure that he joins Charles Berkley, Kenny Smith and Shack and brings the NBA to ESPN next season.. “Yeah, this is the plan,” Johnson said. “We’re going to continue the show. But we’re not going to air on TNT as the NBA on TNT is no longer after these playoffs. But we’re still going to do the show in Atlanta. And yet we’ll do that with the same production crew. It’ll air on certain nights on ABC/ESPN.” -via Awful announcement / March 27, 2025

Mamukelashvili didn’t play in the third quarter. However, in the final frame he lit up the Knicks with 21 points with eight-eight shots. This includes four-quarters of the 3-point range to go with two rebounds and two assists. Mamukelashvili got so hot that teammate Chris Paul began calling the action stretch to make his teammates look even more. “Fortunately, I’ve been playing for a while and I know the art of guys taking shots,” Paul said. “Mum is a great teammate. He comes every day, works hard, always feels good and cheers with a good attitude. When he shoots the ball like that, you just try to find a guy.” Mamukelashvili became the fourth player in NBA history, earning 90% off the field, 100% on three-pointers and 100% on free throws in the game, joining Tyrese Haliburton (2022), Gary Payton (1995) and Charles Barkley. He is also ranked as the third spur to knock down 7-7 or more on a 3-pointer, joining Matt Bonner (2010) and Steve Smith (2001).. -via ESPN / March 20, 2025

In response to the topic, Stephen A. Smith decided to share his perspective on Berkley’s comments, particularly Kendrick Perkins’ quotes on the LeBron James Luka Donsick duo. “Berkeley is on TV, he’s not accused of knowing TV,” ESPN’s face said on Friday’s episode of “First Take.” “It would be Ernie Johnson, who handles that responsibility. Charles Berkley should sometimes see his summary…” “The fact in question is because some stories can get a higher profile than others, so they resonate with the viewer and on important television. It’s called ratings.” -via BasketNews / March 8, 2025
