Pastor of the Stars John Gray III I’m responding to Marvin SappViral Church’s donation request – instructing congregations to approach the door until they cough $40,000 – and he says culture and context are important.
John tells TMZ… Marvin is his good friend and he saw worse donation requests at other churches.
Pastor Gray says that people who weren’t involved in the service understand why Marvin is upset with the way he tried to raise money – asking everyone in the crowd for $20 – and he tells us why culture and context are excluded from the conversation with the sole favor of optics.

John says that’s what the church should do, but he says fundraising is still a big part of many churches and he’s not going to bash Marvin like many people do.
