Canadian lawmaker Jagmeet Singh has suggested that Canada should “fight back” against President Donald Trump and Tesla founder Elon Musk.
Trump told reporters on Monday that he would soon announce a 25% tariff on all aluminum and steel imports to the United States, and also directed at “mutual tariffs,” a country that would impose obligations on US exports. He said he plans to announce the tariffs.
“In very simple terms, if they charge us, we charge them,” Trump told reporters. “If they’re charging us 130% and we’re not charging them anything, it’s not going to stay that way.”
“All countries will be mutual,” he added.
Mexico agrees to deploy 10,000 troops at the US border in exchange for a suspension of tariffs
Trump’s announcement disrupts feathers in Canada and picks out musks as new Democratic leaders.
“Elon Musk is very loud. He’s very vocal about our country. We won’t put it on stand, so if you’re going to shoot us, we’ll fight back. I’m going to do it,” Shin said. He told reporters. “So Elon Musk thinks he can tweet anything he wants. Yeah, we’re going to put tariffs on him. I want it to be something that affects him.”
CNN host Boris Sanchez spoke with Singh on Monday and asked how he felt about Trump’s story of bringing Canada to the 51st state. Singh warned that Canadians are known for being polite, “Don’t take our kindness for weakness,” and said to the proposal “Hell no.”
When asked how he would approach Trump in a different way than current Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Singh insisted that he would “fight back against the bully’s tactics.”
“I believe I’m a good neighbor and I have a good relationship, but I believe very firmly. Donald Trump I only understand power. He acted as a bully in many situations and now he acted as a financial bully. The only language that a bully understands is the language of strength. So we have to show that we are ready to fight back,” Singh replied. “We may be smaller. We may stand up to bigger opponents, but it will hurt both of us. That’s a bad thing. It will hurt Americans. Canadians. It will hurt. We need to show that it is wrong, and we need to show that we are ready to fight back and defend what we have. ”

He added how he would carry out “dollar retaliation tariffs” and that Trump has begun the fight. His plan to bump into his plan is to target Musk especially because of his comments that Canada has become the 51st province.

“Today, what I’m trying to do is announce that we’ll introduce a 100% tariff on Tesla, and we’ll target Elon Musk directly, who proudly puts the idea of this 51st state. We’re advertising, so let’s fight back against Elon Musk,” Singh insisted. “We said we should shut down the supply of critical minerals. Another move to directly target Elon Musk and his Tesla company, the batteries he needs will be able to slash these critical minerals. We need it. We have tools. Use them.”
He said, “That’s not what we want to do, but if Donald Trump wants to bring this fight, I know we’re ready. I’m notifying Donald Trump.” He added.
