The Cleveland Browns signed a contract with free agent guard Teven Jenkins on Thursday.
The 27-year-old Jenkins missed most of his rookie season after being drafted 39th overall by the Chicago Bears in 2021 and undergoing back surgery. Initially drafted by the former Bears front office as a tackle, Chicago moved Jenkins from left tackle to right guard during the 2022 season. He eventually moved to left guard and played 22 games from 2023-24.
If available, Jenkins was undoubtedly Chicago’s best offensive lineman (4 bags allowed in 2024), but multiple injuries forced him to miss 22 games in the first four years of his NFL career.
Jenkins is eligible for an offseason contract extension last year, and told reporters that the Bears will be engaged in meetings with his representative after the team reaches Goodbye Week in Week 7. These lectures never came to fruition.
Jenkins has appeared in 45 games and has started 38 in four seasons.
Also on Thursday, Cleveland re-signed cornerback Tony Brown II, who played in six games last season and held five tackles for the special team.
