EXCLUSIVE: Ted Lasso fans, listen up! This isn’t a drill. Big news for everyone eagerly waiting for the fourth season of Apple TV+’s super popular soccer comedy. Warner Bros. Television, the studio behind Ted Lasso, has grabbed the options on three of the original cast members. These actors were contracted under the UK acting union Equity, sources tell Deadline. They are Hannah Waddingham (she’s AFC Richmond’s owner Rebecca Walton), Brett Goldstein (our beloved Roy Kent), & Jeremy Swift (plays Director of Football Operations Leslie Higgins).

Now that they’ve locked in this amazing trio, the studio’s expected to start chatting with other Ted Lasso cast members who have SAG-AFTRA contracts and whose options have expired. So, they’ll need to ink new deals, we hear. Besides the co-creators & executive producers Jason Sudeikis (Ted Lasso himself) and Brendan Hunt (Coach Beard), we’re talking about Juno Temple (Keeley Jones). Oh, and here’s an interesting tidbit: one of the original Ted Lasso stars, Phil Dunster (Jamie Tart) hasn’t been picked up yet, possibly because he’s busy with another series; he’s working on both Prime Video’s The Devil’s Hour and Apple’s Surface.

Ted Lasso and AFC Richmond are not over just yet. A fourth season of the loved Apple TV+ show is closer to happening, with the studio securing option pickups for three key cast members.

Hannah Waddingham, who plays AFC Richmond owner, Rebecca Walton; Brett Goldstein, who portrays footballer Roy Kent; & Jeremy Swift, who stars as Director of Football Operations, Leslie Higgins. All three actors had been represented by UK acting union—Equity—sources told Deadline on August 24.

The studio is now expected to reach out to Ted Lasso cast members with SAG-AFTRA contracts. Their options have expired, so they’ll negotiate new deals. This supposedly includes co-creators/executive producers Jason Sudeikis (Ted Lasso) and Brendan Hunt (Coach Beard), as well as Juno Temple (Keeley Jones). Many cast members have said that they would love to return for another season.

Sources also told the site that Season 4 depends “on budget approval and scheduling as actors whose options have lapsed may have joined other series that have them in first position,” reported Deadline. If all goes well (fingers crossed), production could start in early 2025.
