A spokesman for the Star said Harges (pictured by the aforementioned NBC drama) passed away at Mount Sinai West Hospital in New York City due to complications from a cancer diagnosed in the winter.

Representatives of Harjes have not yet provided additional details regarding his illness.

“He was an artist of great belief who never gave less than 100 percent to any role he undertaked,” his representative said in a statement.

“As a person, he was generous, kind, understanding, dedicated to family, friends, great horse riders, all animals and magical ways.”

Harjes performed in Texas and New York City theatrical productions before starring as Jack Dempsey in the hit HBO period drama Boardwalk Empire in 2011.

He went to guest stars Blueblood, Orange to New Black, Gotham and Daredevil.

The actor also portrayed Pete Baylor in seasons 2 and 3 of the manifesto.

“His life began with a rhythm of hooves and open planes. Just three days after he was born, his father carried him and his sister on a horse,” the actor’s obituary read.

“The early bond between the animal and the rodeo spirit was with him, but later became the unlikely but perfect foundation for life in the performing arts.”

Harges spent time at Hell’s Kitchen in New York City, his home near Rocky Mountain in West Texas, Texas.

“Outside of acting, Devin was a dedicated martial arts student and a regular at the gym. He often joked that he was safer than being kicked in the face by a horse,” the obituary on his website added.

Director Antonio Divonzo paid tribute to Harges in a Facebook post Sunday, writing:

“It’s awfully sad news as we lost our amazing actor and friend Devin Haljes. He was always better and striving to his heart and soul on everything he did!

Haljess is survived by his parents Randy and Roseanne Haljess, his sister Trish Haljess and cat Maud.

May he rest in peace.
