Delhi Air Quality Index Latest News: The capital has prepared the first level of restrictions under the phased response action plan due to worsening air quality due to weather changes and stubble burning in nearby areas. A subcommittee of the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) announced Monday evening that Stage 1 restrictions will come into effect on Tuesday, October 15. The GRAP norms are a set of measures aimed at tackling air pollution in Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR). The GRAP measure is divided into four stages based on air quality index (AQI) measurements.

According to the CAQM Committee, the GRAP measures will come into effect at 8am on October 15th.
What triggered the GRAP Stage 1 restrictions in NCR?
Air Quality Index (AQI) readings on Monday averaged 234 in the National Capital Region (NCR).
This is a standard used to determine the level of activity restrictions required based on the severity of local air pollution.
The first phase of restrictions focuses on tackling “poor” air quality.
AQI readings in the range of 201 to 300 are considered an indicator of poor air quality.
