Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener and former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday announced the launch of ‘Sanjeevani Yojana’. Party leader and Delhi minister Saurabh Bhardwaj said the scheme is an improved version that addresses the deficiencies in the central government’s healthcare system.
The scheme aims to provide free treatment to elderly residents of Delhi aged 60 years and above.
“Today, Kejriwal Ji launched an important scheme under which senior citizens above 60 years of age will receive free treatment at private hospitals at no cost,” Bhardwaj said.
When asked about the Centre’s Ayushman Bharat Yojana, Bhardwaj criticized its limitations and said, “The scheme is for people above 70 years of age and the premium limit is only Rs 500,000.” There are many deficiencies in the central government system. The Delhi government has set up a better system. It addresses these issues. ”
Earlier, Kejriwal had addressed a public gathering and highlighted the challenges faced by the elderly. “There is one thing that everyone faces when they reach old age. Many diseases occur as we age, and the biggest concern is access to treatment. I have seen many elderly people from good families. You may be suffering because your children are not being cared for, but don’t worry. Your son is still here.”
He further said, “Today, I am announcing the Sanjeevani Yojana for senior citizens in Delhi. Under this scheme, residents above 60 years of age will receive free treatment. We will implement this scheme after the elections. We intend to implement the Act and ensure its passage.”
Emphasizing that the scheme covers treatment in both government and private hospitals, Kejriwal said, “Whether you receive treatment in a government hospital or a private hospital, it is completely free of charge.” There are no restrictions and everyone, rich and poor, can receive treatment.” Treated with no upper limit. ”
He also said that registration for the scheme will begin soon and door-to-door visits will be conducted by AAP officials. “Registration will start within 2-3 days. There is no need to visit the office. An Aam Aadmi Party official will come to your doorstep, complete the registration and hand over the card. Please keep it safe.” said Kejriwal.
Concluding his speech, Mr. Kejriwal asserted, “Once the government is formed after the elections, your son will take full responsibility for ensuring his health in old age.”
Assembly elections in Delhi are scheduled to be held in early 2025. In the 2020 assembly elections, AAP won 62 out of 70 seats and the BJP secured eight seats.
