Seeing the world’s best two fighters challenge each other will never lose its appeal.
That’s true when Artur Beterbiev rematches Dmitry Bivol for the uncontroversial Light-Heavyight World Championship held on Saturday. Sky Sports Box Office.
When they first met in October, the two were rival champions, both undefeated, and neither man was close to losing.
Bivol passed a comprehensive defeat to Mexican superstar Canelo Alvarez and overcame other top opponents. Expert mover with excellent footwork, precise timing and precise tough punches, he is the perfect foil for Beterbiev and remains.
Beterviev has destroyed all the professional opponents he faced, but Bibolu became the first man to take him far away when he opened the box on the course of 12 outstanding rounds last year. Ta.
But Bibolu didn’t defeat him. He lost the majority decision, split his opinions and infuriated the outcome.
“I still think he won. I felt that in the nine rounds he completely dominated the fight,” Bibolu promoter Eddie Hearn said. Sky Sports.
“Then he lost 10, 11, 12. This was a problem, he says he wasn’t 100% the last time. [this time] I think it will be a very tough night for Betterviev. But it will be a tough night for Bibolu. It’s a 50-50 battle.
“I felt he won last time. He has to do a little more, so he has to get a crack in the judges and the whip.”
Beterbiev fights with brilliant ferociousness. He closes his enemies, controls where they have moved, and unleashes a huge punch that lands on top of them.
Bivol cycled through the skills of his repertoire in the first fight, but as the final round was carved, Beterbiev exposed him to a sustained onslaught. Some observers thought he wasn’t winning enough rounds overall, but there was no doubt as to how strong he ended.
Beterbiev trained at unparalleled strength this week in Riyadh, up until the weigh-in of the contest. Even at age 40, he is in great shape today with the level of focus marking him as one of the greatest active fighters in the world.
He is undoubtedly very pleased that he deserves a decision in the first fight and will resolve someone else’s questions a second time.
“It was a good experience because I won,” Betterviev said. Sky Sports.
“I wasn’t bad,” he added, with hints underlying the threat. “We need to do more.
“I’ll show you.”
Bibolu himself was blessed with his first professional defeat. However, he asserts that he knows exactly what he needs to do to defeat his horrible rival.
“I felt like I did a good job. [in the first fight] But I wasn’t very happy,” Biboru said. Sky Sports. “Nothing surprised me. I was hoping for it [from him] And he showed what he wanted.
“I always think that he is the biggest opponent. He has very high speed, power, movement, everything, defense, chin – I try to think he is unrealistic. And when you go, in the ring against a human man, you are not surprised.
“I think I know more 1740232820 But we will see.
“I need to be better than before.”
“All at-risk departments”
Previously on the same card, England’s Joshua Buzzi and Callum Smith had been fighting their own excellent lightweight competition.
The winners of their match will hold the WBO interim belt and will then be in a major position to challenge the winners of Beterbiev-Bivol.
Liverpool’s Smith has previously shared the ring with both Betterbiev and Bibolu. He lost the world title challenge to Beterbiev a year ago and boxed Bivol in an international amateur match about 13 years ago.
“I knew he was a good fighter of the time and was pretty similar to the way he fought now.
“He accomplished a lot, and obviously Betterviev is the same.”
Smith added:
“I think you’ll like it over time. [that] The bivol may be a little fresh. But again, I think it will become a razor again.
“Last time there was a very good Nip and Tuck battle, but I think we’ll see the same thing this time.”
Buzzi wants to continue his own unbeaten run and has a keen professional eye for Beterbiev Bibol.
“I thought Bibolu won the battle. The only other thing is my opinion,” Buzzi said. Sky Sports. “On paper, Beterbiev made a decision.
“I was just rimming it,” he added. “It’s going to be a good rematch.
“Everything in the department was in danger that night, so we gave them both credit. They got together, they did it, and they’re doing it again.”
