Apple’s rumored Mac Mini redesign may ditch the USB-A port

Apple’s next Mac Mini will not have a USB-A port. BloombergMark Gurman is Today Power On Newsletter The new desktops will start arriving in Apple warehouses in September, he wrote, with the higher-end models featuring the Apple M4 Pro chip scheduled to ship in October.

Gurman’s sources say the M4 Pro-equipped version will still have plenty of ports, including five USB-C ports (two on the front and three on the back), an Ethernet port, an HDMI port, a headphone jack, and more. The new Mac Mini will also likely have an internal power supply — not bad for a computer that’s expected to be roughly the size of an Apple TV.

Is it time to say goodbye to USB-A? Maybe. Maybe. But regardless of how you feel about it, it’s definitely time for something new to happen with the oldest Apple computer design, the Mac Mini.
