American Airlines ‘technology issue’ resolved after causing delays

Some travelers reported sitting in plane seats for hours on Friday after “technical issues” prompted American Airlines to delay numerous flights.

“The issues with technology have affected the connectivity of several systems today,” an American Airlines spokesperson told Fox News Digital.

“We worked with our partners to solve the problem. The applications our customers and team use are backed up and fully operational.”

It is unknown what caused the problem.

On Friday night, passengers on an American Airlines plane that stopped at the tarmac at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) were told Fox News that the flight landed early from Miami, waiting for the gate for about 50 minutes.

The pilot said that other American Airlines flights were reportedly waiting for three hours to take off and other American Airlines flights were waiting for three hours to take off, and that Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations are obligated to return to the gate.

A FAA spokesperson told Fox News Digital that the airline did not report safety concerns that the airline had a grounded flight despite a short weather delay in DCA.
