Amazon workers in North Carolina voted against the union’s proposal, a victory over the retail giants in the fight against organized labor at facilities.
AN’s approximately 4,300 employees Amazon Fulfillment The Garner Center, a suburb of Raleigh, is eligible to vote last week and decide whether to join a grassroots labor organization called Carolina Amazon United for solidarity and empowerment. The Labor Relations Committee said.
Amazon workers voted almost 3-1 in the warehouse for joining former and current Amazon workers from independent unions.
The Federal Labor Bureau said 2,447 workers voted against unionization, and 829 voted in favor of joining the union.

An Amazon spokesperson said Saturday that the company is already providing workers with a safe, comprehensive workplace and competitive salaries that align with what most unions demand.
“We are pleased that Garner’s team has been able to hear their voices and have chosen to maintain a direct relationship with Amazon,” Amazon spokesman Irene Hades said in a statement.

In 2022, Amazon workers in a warehouse on Staten Island, New York voted for the union. Amazon is not yet aware of the election results or has not negotiated with organizers over the contract.
