Over 150,000 people packed a big Fashion Grillot shopping centre over the weekend. There are 70,000 people on Saturday alone. Despite traffic congestion and crowds at the entrance and exit, despite parking issues, which now Israel’s largest mall stores reported huge sales. Big Shopping Centre reports that this was the perfect opening for Israeli shopping complexes to date, with strip mall fashion stores recording record visits and sales for Israeli shopping centres. According to preliminary data, the average sales per square meter was NIS 150-200 per square meter each.

The LEGO store, which opened at the Grillott Shopping Centre, attracted over 3,000 customers, and the adidas store was visited by over 10,000 customers. Approximately 70% of the stores in the complex were open on Saturdays. Among the stores not open on Saturdays were Zara’s flagship store and golf store. The restaurant and cafe were fully booked throughout the weekend.
On Saturday, around 2pm, Big was forced to announce that the shopping centre was full, and recommended that customers come later in the week.
“Over the weekend, the Big Fashion Grilot Center was forced to record record visitors and payments and to issue a statement for the large number of visitors that the center was full,” said Hay Galis, CEO of Big Shopping Centers.
Garis added that he believes that crowding and delays at the car park exit, the issues being addressed, and that this is a one-off event that arises from a large number of visitors.
Big Fashion Grillot, just north of Tel Aviv in Ramato Hasharon, opened last Thursday. In addition to the 43-story office tower, which spread across 44 Dunhams (11 acres), with 44 square meters of commercial space and 169,000 square meters of parking and service space, NIS 20 billion has been invested in the construction of the centre.
