The Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Yankees will face off in the World Series, starting with Game 1 on Friday (8:08 p.m. ET on FOX).
This will be the 12th time these iconic franchises have competed for the championship, but the first time since 1981.
Here’s an overview of Game 1, including how to watch, possible lineups, and more.
How can I watch the World Series?
All games will be broadcast on FOX, with each contest scheduled to begin at 8:08 p.m. ET. The schedule is as follows:
Who is given preferential treatment?
The Dodgers are currently favored to win Game 1 and win the series (-125).
Who will start the first game?
For the Yankees, AL Cy Young Award winner Gerrit Cole will start. The Dodgers have not yet announced their starting pitcher. If that happened, Walker Buehler was expected to start Game 7 of the NLCS. However, the sabbatical will give him more options, including the possibility of Jack Flaherty or Yoshinobu Yamamoto.

Who will be in the lineup for Game 1?
Neither team has announced their starting lineups, so these are predictions based on how Yankees manager Aaron Boone and Dodgers manager Dave Roberts have filled out their cards in recent games. Also, Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman has been sidelined with an ankle injury, so I would like to keep an eye on that as well. This will be updated as soon as it becomes official.
