Four total touchdown passes were thrown in the Kansas City Chiefs’ dramatic 30-27 victory over the Carolina Panthers on Sunday at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina. The most important catch came after the game.
Fans clamored around the railings of the stands seeking memorabilia and high-fives with Chiefs players as they exited the field. But for one child, it quickly turned to fear when he misplaced his footing and slipped off the edge of an elevated stand.
Thankfully, Kansas City defensive tackle Tashaun Wharton was there and had his best play of the day.
Wharton had two tackles on the field against the Panthers. But the two-time Super Bowl-winning defensive lineman showed his skill and instincts as a wide receiver, darting forward to catch the falling kid and keep it from hitting the turf.
“Honestly, it was a natural reaction,” Wharton said. On “The Pat McAfee Show”“I grabbed him behind the back and kind of pushed him into the stands a little bit more.”
Wharton’s quick reactions saved the child from falling headfirst. In an interview with McAfee, he said he hopes to bring younger fans to Chiefs games.
