We have reached an important milestone in our efforts to transform Haifa Airport into a busy and improved international gateway for residents of the north. The Israeli Airport Authority has announced that Layam, a company owned by Teddy Sagi Group, has received a bid to set up and operate a new tax-free sales area within the airport.
The decision to establish a store came as a direct response to the airport’s return to its daily international business and a return to passenger growth. Layam is a veteran company in the duty-free shop sector and operates similar stores at Ben Gurion Airport and ports in Haifa and Ashdod. Layam will begin construction work in the Haifa tax-free area in the coming days. According to estimates, the official opening of the store to passengers will take place within a few weeks, providing an international quality shopping experience.
A shopping area spanning hundreds of square meters has been built to provide passengers with a wide range of tax-free products. The shelves have a large selection of the most well-known perfume and cosmetic brands, alcoholic beverages, tobacco products, tobacco, electric and electronic products. Another major advantage for passengers at Haifa Airport is the availability of the “Keep and Fly” service. This allows you to make purchases before taking off during your trip and collect them conveniently when you return to Israel. Your agreement with LAYAM will guarantee up to four years of activity and may be extended further. This demonstrates a long-term commitment to developing services at airports.
The move to establish a duty-free shop was well established by the UK in 1934, fitting well with the renewal and growth of Haifa Airport, the third largest in Israel. In recent years, the Israeli Airport Authority has invested key resources to upgrade the airport’s infrastructure and resumed full operation in both international flights within the country.
Airport activities have been greatly enhanced by becoming an Air Haifa Airlines hub. The carrier currently operates direct flights to Larnaca, Cyprus and Athens, Greece. The airport also caters to additional needs, such as helicopter flights to offshore gas equipment and small private flights and executive flights to international destinations.
