Senators say Abrego Garcia was denied a call while deported
Sen. Chris Van Hollen, a Democrat of Maryland, shared details of his visit with Kilmer Armando Abrego Garcia, a Maryland man who was accidentally deported to El Salvador last month.

About three kilometres outside CECOT, we were pulled by soldiers. You will see that the remaining traffic is allowed to pass. We were pulled by soldiers and told us we were not allowed to go any further. Much late in the afternoon, I was actually preparing to catch a plane from San Salvador here yesterday evening. Suddenly there was a saying that he would be allowed to meet Kilmer Abrego Garcia. And they brought him to the hotel where I was staying. He talked about your 5-year-old son with autism several times. His five-year-old son was in a Maryland car when Kilmer was pulled and handcuffed by US government agents. His 5-year-old son was in the car at the time. He told me he was first taken to Baltimore. I think that was the Baltimore Detention Center. He called from there and asked people to let him know what had happened. However, he was denied the opportunity.
