PGA Tour golfer Joel Dahmen hoped that winning a tournament at the course would boost his popularity as a professional golfer.
He never expected his hit Netflix documentary series “Full Swing” to propel him to celebrity status On TourBut he’s never complained about the turnout of fans.
As Dahmen continues to fight for more wins on tour, his sudden rise in popularity has opened up a multitude of opportunities on and off the course, one of which is a custom cocktail that only a select few golfers have access to.

Thanks to Bushmills Irish Whiskey, the official whiskey of the PGA Tour, Damen has become one of the legendary companies with cocktails named after golfers.
“Arnold Palmer had one. John Daly had one,” Dahmen told FOX Business Digital on Thursday. “I have one too. I don’t have the playing records. I don’t have all the major championship records like they do, but that’s pretty cool.”
Macklemore’s Bogey Boys continue to influence the golf lifestyle on and off the course with their collaboration with Ebbets Field Flannels.
Joel’s Juicy Rye is a signature drink made with Bushmills, grapefruit soda, a splash of lime and a dash of pineapple juice, and is the result of Damen and the distillery testing different flavours over the course of several weeks.
Now, Dahmen loves hearing the yells of golf fans enjoying a beer on the course, whether he’s serving it himself at pop-up events during tournaments or chasing a trophy on the weekend.
“I’ll be walking down the fairway and someone will yell out to me, ‘Hey, I’m drinking Joel’s Juicy Rye,’ and there’s a bucket hat stir stick there. It’s really cool.”
“As you sign your scorecard, chat with your buddies and enjoy a post-round cocktail, you can reminisce about your good shots and The bad shot you hit“We wanted to create something that people could really enjoy in the summer, when most people play golf. A really robust drink that people can enjoy.”
As the sport of golf evolves and new, younger generations join in, companies like Bushmills have had to adapt. While golf has been enjoyed on and off the course for centuries, the company has actively partnered with tour players like Damen, as well as working with golf and lifestyle brands like Malbon Golf, to expand its reach.
When the Creators Cup took place at East Lake Golf Course, site of the Tour Championship this week, with content creators with a combined 100 million followers competing for the inaugural trophy, Dahmen witnessed another example of the game’s evolution.
Dahmen, who wore a headset to walk the course, interview its creators and provide commentary, is pleased that the tour is leaning into this new evolution.
“I’m really happy that the tour is, I don’t know how to describe it, moving in that direction or expanding into that realm and really leaning into that,” Dahmen explained. “I was there yesterday, and the amount of fans that were there on Wednesday afternoon was just amazing.”
Dahmen said he doesn’t plan on joining YouTube anytime soon because he likes to keep his PGA Tour card and has no plans to give it away, but the heartfelt interactions with fans wherever he goes are something he’ll always treasure.
“That’s one of the really great things,” Dahmen said of the fan support, adding: “Even if you’re having a bad day on the golf course, you come off the course and you’re signing autographs and people still want to talk to you and hang out with you. They just say, ‘Hey, we’re big fans of yours and we’re rooting for you.'”
