Twitch today released information on viewers and engagement in 2024. It was something that everyone streamed and watched all year round. According to Twitch, Grand Theft Auto V is the most popular game on the platform, with titles like League of Legends and Valorant also ranked by numbers. The platform also reported that it owns a 60% share of global game livestream audiences, and has been watching Twitch for over 15.6 billion hours.
The platform’s content creators streamed Grand Theft Auto V over 25.8 million hours, with viewers watching over 1.4 billion hours of games. The league was runner-up at 1.19 billion hours, and was also the most viewed game in Germany and France. Other titles to subscribe to the Leaderboard include Valorant, Fortnite, and Call of Duty. It’s probably not surprising that eSports games make up a large part of the list.
Twitch also notes that Vtubers have been gaining popularity in recent years, with 10% more hours increasing than last year. British Vtubers are seeing the biggest surge, with 200% of the time being viewed, but the genre itself has been hosting major events in 2024 by other UK major streamers in 2024, including Kai Cenat’s 30-day sub-son and Ibai’s boxing events.
The popularity of Grand Theft Auto V may predict the potential popularity of its successor, Grand Theft Auto VI. This is scheduled to be released later this year. GTA V has long supported creative roleplay in both the main game and GTA Online, so Grand Theft Auto VI can accommodate its large audience.
