Okay. So this rumour comes from a source I don’t have much information about. I don’t know them, so I’m not going to give them much sun and oxygen. They did it a few years ago gh Podcast. I don’t know their track record in the reliability of the scoop. I just want to say that in advance.
But at the same time, this chatter about Jonathan Jackson seems plausible, and it is in line with a lot of known information about his new time and tenure. General Hospital. We’ll get into the rumors and then I’ll tell you why I think this can have a leg.
To be clear, I’m not trying to confuse the fans, I’m not trying to upset anyone, but I’m a journalist and my job is to report the news, which includes rumors. We were one of the first to talk about the Kelly Monaco exit rumours, and it turned out to be true. So I’m doing what I’m doing. Don’t shoot messenger.
Three-part rumours: Jackson’s departure, Valentini’s plea, and Herbst’s fate
Let’s get into it. The first thing you need to know is that there are three parts tied to this rumor. So, part 1, it spilled on this gh Podcasts that Jonathan Jackson appears to have decided to leave General Hospital Around August or September this year. If you don’t remember, he returned as Lucky Spencer on August 23, 2024. And Jonathan Jackson’s exit rumours make sense if August or September signed a year-long stint to get lucky back.
And I can’t believe it’s been almost a year since Jonathan Jackson returned. It feels like he’s only been back for a few months. So the first part of the rumour that Jonathan Jackson could leave in three or four months is plausible, but clear and uncertain, but the timing is lined up. Every year, a year, that makes sense.
General Hospital: Rumor Part 2 – Jonathon Out?
So the second part of this three-part rumor is likely that showrunner Frank Valentini is trying to keep Jonathan Jackson in good fortune until February. Now, at the timing of Part 2, if Jonathan Jackson signs a one-year contract it would be equivalent to a six-month extension. In the soap world, six months extensions are fairly common. So, again, plausible, no possibility, no guarantee, plausible.
This is the third part of the rumor. The allegation is that Jonathan Jackson’s decision to stay or go could be tied to the fate of Becky Herbst General Hospital And her long-term role as Elizabeth Weber. Now, this Jonathan Jackson rumour is especially concerning, and unfortunately, it’s not necessarily surprising given how ABC soaps have done Becky in the past and not in a good way.
Rebecca’s history with General Hospital: contract negotiations and fan rage
As you know, she’s on the ride General Hospital As Elizabeth Weber for almost 30 years. She has a huge and loyal fan base as a long-standing legacy character. But several times over the past decade, the power you know has left her hanging, not necessarily treating her well during contract negotiations, and not even fired her.

So you might think a year is a long-term soap gig compared to saying Jonathan Jackson is lucky to consider a short-term or guest arc. Therefore, language is very open to interpretation.
Soap Social Media has someone on its social media claiming that Jonathan has signed a three-year deal. They don’t really have the credibility I saw and the long-term contracts are not confirmed by sources I consider to be reliable. And it seems pretty fast to me to suggest lucky especially to Liz, especially since he lied about her rack and covers for Christina Corinthos Davis (Kate Mansi). I personally am torn apart about whether I want a long-term reunion with Liz or not. I liked her more by Nicholas Cassadin (Adam Hass) or Jason Morgan (Steve Burton). She and Lucky have had difficulties in the past.
I don’t always like the way he treated her or the way Lucky told Liz. If you don’t remember, Lucky and Liz have married twice before. Both times ended with divorce. So that might be why she hesitates to say yes to her suggestions. And again, this Jonathan Jackson/Rebecca Herbst is nothing more than a rumour.
Timing makes it plausible, but if people start fake rumors, if they do their research, you know, they can spread something that appears to be plausible. So at this point I say there’s nothing going to come along well with it, but that’s something to be noted. That’s what I say.
Becky’s behind the scenes politics and screen time concerns
I’m not there either, either, as to whether Jonathan Jackson has been staying for a year or three years. For me, he can stay or go. I don’t love his storyline. Lucky’s romance with Liz is mostly on screen, not so passionate for me, and Christina’s defense is really annoying to me. I have a stronger opinion on Rebecca’s future GH.
I think I’ve done her wrong several times in the past, not just her contract. in gh Fan Weekend 2023 Graceland, Both Kelly Monaco and Rebecca Herpst received fan questions about why they didn’t have more episodes, especially given the time they were on the soap, and why they didn’t have more screen time and more storylines.
