Steelers rookies will be inducted into the Hall of Fame
When players become members of the Pittsburgh Steelers, there are history, heritage and standards of support. There is little history of franchises that are deeper and more influential than the Steelers.
Members of the 2025 NFL Draft class and undrafted free agents learned everything about that Friday night. After the team’s dinner, the rookie class visited the Honorary Museum Museum at Aquilis Earth Stadium.
The Steelers History X account shared photos captured by team photographers in their first round picks about the time of former team president and owner Dan Rooney as Ireland’s US ambassador during the Barack Obama administration.
Linebacker Jack Sawyer outside of the fourth round was drawn to a display case of TJ Watt’s jersey and commemorative ball after defeating Cleveland’s Desshaun Watson in 2023, before Watt set the franchise’s greatest sack record ever, and three rounds of Caleb Johnson learned about the history of Steel Layers’ back position.
Five-round Pick Yahiya Black brought past inductees plaques and steel football to Hall of Honor and learned about the vast history of the franchise they know about call home.
Kaleb Johnson is working on pass protection
In the NFL, Steelers rookie RB Kaleb Johnson has one of the key areas of the game he wants to work on.
It’s pass protection.
On Saturday during the rookie minicamp at the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex on the South Side, Johnson was working to protect his pass as much as possible in a controlled environment. Based on a video from Athletic’s Mike Defabo, Johnson was experiencing a medicine ball drill working on pass protection punches.
It’s not the same as a defender, but it’s the best job he can get in the environment, with coach Eddie Faulkner.
To become a true Steelers RB, you must be able to pass protection. Johnson knows that, and that’s what he’s working so hard this offseason.
Ryan Shazier Guest Speaker
The day after he played after a tragic spinal cord injury in 2018 was pretty busy for former Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier. Last season he was an assistant for the Steelers during the season.
Currently, during the offseason, Shazier is once again appearing as a guest speaker.
Shazier spoke on Friday at Dan Miller’s fourth district councillor, according to the Instagram’s Ryan Shazier Fund.
Shazier’s first session was with community impact leaders in the disability and access space, according to an Instagram post, and the second was a special Olympic athlete with over 250 people, where he shared “Shalieve” and talked about life with spinal cord injuries and impaired.
