Bradley Beal says he was surprised to be benched, Suns didn’t mention him about trade rumors
There is speculation that one of the reasons Beal was benched was because he would be so distasteful that he would waive his no-trade clause if a deal was finalized. Let’s take a look.

Even if the Heat and Suns (Butler’s suitors) were able to find a third team that would give the Heat something in addition to taking Beal’s contract (good luck), if Beal He reminded reporters yesterday that he was moved to the bench (via The Athletic) because of his no-trade clause: “I have to…” 10:23am

Due to his $216 million annual salary and trade restrictions for being a second apron team, Phoenix has no functional way to acquire Butler without using Beal as part of a trade. Bartelstein did not rule out the possibility of waiving the terms of Beal’s approved contract if the “perfect” situation were to arise, as was the case in 2023 when Beal was traded to the Suns.
