Apple has announced a new app, “The Games App,” that will serve as a game hub to replace aging arcades.
This app will replace arcades and pre-installed on Apple devices with more features.
Ann Thai from Anple has a gaming section in the App Store in the new app and recommends the game. The company made a presentation at the Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC).
Apple has worked hard on games in the past. In 2010, we created a game center as a hub for gaming activities and a place to organize games. It also debuted Apple Arcade in 2019, funding many game developers to create games for subscription gaming services.
All games have a library tab. You can play with the controller and easily move from one game to another. You can compare your scores and achievements with your friends and take your friends to a score-based showdown via game challenges. For developers, challenges are built on top of the arcade leaderboard. Single-player games allow you to win and turn your score into a competition where you can see in real time. There are more ways to bring together groups.
“It’s an all-in-one destination for games and playing with friends,” Thai said.
The Home tab displays game information related to you. There are things like mis-events and recommendations. There is an Apple Arcade Tab, and you will see the friends you play with.
On MacOS, new gaming apps are available, allowing you to bring new game overlays to your screen. Macos Tahoe introduces Metal 4 with frame interpolation, derailment and more.
